Equipping Communities for Impact: A Conversation with ToolBank USA

This month, San Bernardino County VOAD is pleased to welcome Arturo Garciacano as our guest speaker. Arturo serves as the West Territory Manager for ToolBank USA, a nonprofit organization that helps community groups, disaster response agencies, and volunteer organizations access the tools and equipment they need to get work done efficiently and affordably.

Arturo will provide a brief overview of ToolBank’s mission, how the organization supports disaster response and community projects, and ways VOAD partners can utilize ToolBank resources to strengthen local capacity across San Bernardino County.

In Memory of Marjorie Smith

January 14, 1937 - April 21, 2026

Marjorie Smith was a driving force behind disaster preparedness in the Morongo Basin & San Bernardino County, a leader within VOAD/COAD, and a familiar face at every effort to strengthen this community.

If you ever heard her ask, “What’s under your bed?”, you know she didn’t just talk about readiness—she made sure you were ready.

Her legacy is one of action, connection, and holding people to a higher standard of readiness.

We’re rebuilding our website to better serve San Bernardino County’s network of nonprofits, faith-based and community organizations, businesses, tribal partners, and government agencies — all working together before, during, and after disasters.

Our goal is simple: connect, coordinate, and collaborate — so help reaches people faster when it’s needed most.

Check back soon for updates, membership info, and resources for preparedness and recovery.
